Who's Fran?

I get my inspiration from vintage fabrics, which almost express what they want to become.  My mother and grandmother both sew(ed) - my mother makes clothes and home accessories and my grandmother intricate tapestries, clothes, eiderdowns and patchwork.

I have inherited a great many pieces of fabric, but source others from thrift & charity shops, sales, markets, friends & relatives (many people save me bits!), ebay - all over the place!  I began by making myself a bag - not finding what I was looking for in the shops, and realised I really enjoyed it, so continued from there making presents for friends and then branching out into a few shops, commissions and I have recently made a couple of bags for a friend's bridesmaids and a bag for a bride's mother.

Due to the vintage nature of the fabric and the relatively small pieces I have - the vast majority of the bags are totally unique.  I pride myself in sewing well constructed and durable bags and am constantly striving to better my techniques.
